From the Event Coordinator at Tema Kültür Sanat: The Unseen Side of Events
Behind every successful event is a dedicated, unseen team. As an event coordinator at Tema Sanat, Mazhar Ezgin ensures each organization runs smoothly through careful planning and strong behind-the-scenes coordination.
When you go to a concert or event, what you see is actually the easiest part. The lights come on, the artist comes on stage, the music starts, and everything goes as it should. But behind those seemingly perfect few hours lies days, sometimes weeks, of intense preparation.
I am Mazhar Ezgin. I work as an Event Coordinator at Tema Culture and Arts. My job is to ensure that the audience enjoys the event without noticing any glitches. Because in a well-managed organization, the coordinator's work is invisible. In fact, it shouldn't be.
At an event, you manage dozens of things simultaneously. The artist's transportation, accommodation, the technical team, stage setup, backstage preparations, program flow, security, the municipality, the organization team... Everyone is in a different place, but everyone works towards the same goal. That goal is the smooth completion of the event.
Of course, not everything always goes as planned. Artists get stuck in traffic, there are last-minute technical demands, weather changes, and sometimes you have to revise your plan within minutes. That's where event coordination begins. It's not about avoiding problems; it's about being able to solve problems without letting anyone know when they arise.
Over the years, I've learned this: the most important thing in this profession isn't just planning, but being able to adapt to changing plans as quickly as possible. Because event management isn't something you do by rote; it requires experience, composure, and effective communication.
Every organization we hold at Tema Culture and Arts teaches me something new. Each event makes me better prepared for the next one. And when the lights go out, seeing that people had a wonderful night makes me forget all the fatigue.
There's a lot of hard work behind the scenes. And I'm proud to be on the unseen side of that work.
